How much is Se7en an Exa articles The movie Se7en, coordinated by David Fincher in 1995, was at the time both a stunning and profoundly upsetting book that left crowds with a significant mental injury, that some film pundits have said is suggestive of the great kind of Film Noir, considering the film a case of Modern Noir. This is the thing that I will explore in this article. As far as plot, Se7en is a story with a distressing and evil suggestion, developed to a milestone finishing which executive David Fincher had to battle for so as to give the film that melancholy and threatening inclination that it holds so well. Film Noir has various plot themes that must be followed for it to be really called Noir. Initially, most Noir films start with generally one hero being given an assignment, a strategic finish by a customer. This is valid in the great Noir film Out of the Past (1947) where Jeff Bailey, the fundamental hero is extended to an employment opportunity by Whit Sterling, a criminal card shark, including the recovery of archives from a duty legal counselor. The film being referred to, Se7en, additionally utilizes this starting to the plot, as the two characters are solicited to explore the case from the sequential executioner. In spite of the fact that there are two characters rather than the ordinary one, the idea of the ID is the equivalent. Ordinarily in Film Noir messages, the principle hero is deluded by somebody, or various individuals. This is our second plot theme recognizable in Se7en, as the sequential executioner John Doe beguiles Detectives Mills and Somerset various occasions, as he causes them to accept that the sloth casualty may in truth be the executioner, or that he figures out how to snap a photo of Mills as a mysterious picture taker among different conditions, driving them further and further into his trap of misleading. Twelve Angry Men - American Legal Justice System - Free Essay Example
The story I chose was 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose written in 1957. Twelve men were picked to sit on a jury for a murder trial. The accused was an 18-year-old boy. He was on trial for murdering his father. If he is convicted, hell receive a death sentence. This sets the tone for the Play. Bothered by the heat making the room uncomfortable, the jurors had to cast a preliminary vote which came out to eleven guilty and one not guilty. Juror Eight was the only person to vot not guilty and demanded that they discussed the case further. Juror Eight began to question the prosecutions arguments. The knife was originally was thought to be a unique knife and narrowed it down to the accused. He argued that the knife was a common knife and that anyone couldve had that style knife and killed his father. This was explained by the following text in the play: (EIGHT reaches casually into his pocket and withdraws an object. No one notices this. He stands up quietly.) FOUR. Arent you trying to make us accept a pretty incredible coincidence? EIGHT. Im not trying to make anyone accept it. Im just saying its possible. THREE (shouting). And Im saying its not possible. (EIGHT swiftly flicks open the blade of the switch-knife and quickly jams it into the table next to the first one. They are exactly alike. There are several gasps and everyone stares at the knife. There is a long silence.) THREE (slowly, amazed). What are you trying to do? TEN (loud). Yeah, what is this? Who do you think you are? FIVE. Look at it! Its the same knife! (Rose) He also distinguished that the downstairs neighbor that witnessed the murder was not likely to have seen what they said they saw. Slowly, through juror 8s reasoning, the other jurors started changing their votes. It seemed like it was going to be a hung jury, but Juror Eights arguments was successful in changing the other jurors minds. The last one to hold out, Juror Three, finally changed his vote to not guilty at the end. The boy was acquitted of all charges. Twelve Angry Men was a glimpse of the American legal justice system during the era that if was filmed. Screenwriter Reginald Rose saw American society as crumbling amongst itself, and 12 Angry Men stands as a warning to Americans: remember your responsibilities, stay unified, and be understanding with one another, or the nation will fall. By the end, the film is not about whether or not the accused man was guilty or innocent its about whether or not these 12 diverse men with individual prejudices and personalities can figure out how to work together and come to a decision. (Saporito). We found eleven men, persuaded by prejudices, personal experiences, and impractical thinking, tested by one man who held himself and the other jurors to a higher standard of justice. He commanded that this disregarded member of society be given a fair trial and his due process. We saw the jurors struggle between the responsibility to punish the guilty and to protect the innocent. It proved that the log ic behind the justice system does work. The play also spoke about how America was a melting pot of different cultures, concepts, opinions, and personalities. This jury included a German immigrant watchmaker to an affluent broker to a nurse at a hospital. These men characterized the diversity in America and the many challenges that it presented. This battle became a vital part of the war within the play. Rose expressed this by making the jury room hot with the AC or fan not working to represent their hot tempers. But as the story went on, the tempers cooled as the rain and the finding of a fan in the seemed to cool off the room and they can think more reasonably. Another thing I found interesting is that throughout the play, no names are used. You never hear the names of the jurors, anyone involved in the case, or even the witnesses. The lack of names given in the play was a reminder that its not the single person that matters in a jury. Its the jury and its part in the judicial process. The defendant is mentioned as either defendant, accused, or boy. The witnesses are called the downstairs neighbor or the old man. There was no suggestions of time and place, except that it happened in the summer. I believe that it was with the expectation that anyone reading it will reflect on the bigger picture and not on the characters themselves. A reader may think that this somehow takes away from the characters personalities or the audiences ability to relate to them. To the contrary, the unnamed men who are tasked with the fate of a young man could be your father, husband, son, or grandfather and every personality type is portrayed in this fascinating p sychological drama. The Necessity of Legalizing Wolf Hunting in Wisconsin Essay
Over the past several years, the gray wolf, native to the Wisconsin area, has been listed federally as an endangered species due to the graphic and horrific treatment they had received during the industrialization periods of America, when they were frowned upon and hated because they are predatory creatures and did, on occasion, attack livestock and pets. Because the government was encouraging the hunting, including bounties for the animals, the wolves were hunted to near extinction. However, now Wisconsin faces a new problem. With the reintroduction of the wolves to the state, and their continued endangered status federally, the population has increased well beyond expectations, reaching what could be considered a problematic state. Aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Also, the government wanted to step in and help the economy, so bounties were set in order to encourage the hunting of the creatures. Communities began to see the bounty hunters as heroes, and these men felt as such. The attitude towards wolves spiraled out of control, causing hunts based on vengeance and hatred, and inhumane practices of poisoning, trapping, and torturing began. Even a former governor of Alaska, Jay Hammond, felt that flying in a plane and shooting down hundreds of wolves was necessary to protect the citizens of the state. Wolf furs were coveted, the animals were loathed, and the image of the wolf as a cowardly murderer stuck based on old-fashioned beliefs and legend-based fears. Nothing was done to stop the practices, and the hunts continued to be encouraged, until there were basically no wolves left to hunt (Lopez 139-145). It was nearly too late once the problem was noticed, but the government finally stepped in to address the problem. The wolves were going extinct, and it became clear that the animals were an important part of the ecosystem. The timber (gray) wolf was placed on the endangered species list, and severe consequences were put into action for anyone who h unted the animals illegally. The Wisconsin DNR began a very carefully regulated action plan to reintroduce the wolf to the state, which included radio collars and careful tracking of the animals in order to monitor their progress, as well as make sure they stay in

Parrisââ¬â¢s insecurities are partially due to his daughter being unwell but privately he is concerned for his own reputation. What has goody Proctor turned Abigail out of the proctor household? How does this ââ¬Ërejectionââ¬â¢ figure in the build-up of the witch hysteria? Goody Proctor has turned Abigail away from their household because Proctor had become attracted to her youth and committed lechery with Abby. Goody Proctor took care of the problem by making her leave, and therefore Abigail holds a grudge against Elizabeth, and would like revenge. Once Proctor admits that he has made a mistake and that he cannot be with her, Abby is hurt and rejected, therefore initiates the trend of accusing innocents of witchcraft, which gradually builds up the hysteria. 5. Millerââ¬â¢s Summary Assessments ââ¬â Thomas Putman: Eldest son of the richest person in town. ââ¬Ëregards himself as the intellectual superior of most of the people around himââ¬â¢ Had a ââ¬Ëvindictive natureââ¬â¢ revengeful nature, holds grudges He made many accusations against other people. What must the ââ¬ËAccusedââ¬â¢ of witchcraft do to avoid hanging? Specifically, why does Tituba ââ¬Å"open upâ⬠? Act 2 1. What is the primary centre of tension in the encounter between John Proctor (JP) and Marry Warren (MW)? The tensions of who yields the most power/authority between the two characters are played out very vividly in the encounter between JP and MW. MW is now an official of the court and therefore also has rights and regulations now, and because of this power achieved by the girl JP usually orders around, he tries to grasp onto whatever ground he can to still have influence and control over her. The shift of power is evident when MWââ¬â¢s dialogue gradually extends throughout the act as she replays what is going on in court, her knowledge of the current events give her power. Initially the argument between JP and MW had started due to MW ignoring JPââ¬â¢s orders of her to stay at home, this starts the shift of power, and JP is intimidated and frustrated at his inability to take action . 2. What other ââ¬Ësymptomsââ¬â¢ can be added to the Act 1 list of ââ¬Ëevidenceââ¬â¢ that the devil has invaded salem? Suspicious behaviours, sending out spirits, and flying are all ââ¬Å"evidenceâ⬠that the devil has invaded the minds of the inhabitants of Salem, but also not remembering the 10 commandments are another source of ââ¬Ëevidenceââ¬â¢. It is common Puritan Knowledge to know these by heart, if you do not, then you are very likely doing something wrong. Working on Sundays and not attending church consistently is also another negative notion that can be linked to witchcraft. If you do any of these things, you faith is not legitimate and there is a chance you made a pact with the devil. 3. What is you Impression of Elizabeth Proctor by the end of Act 2? Of reverend Hale? Elizabeth is a true wife and is willing to forgive JP as long as he breaks the ââ¬Ëpromiseââ¬â¢ that he unknowingly made with Abigail. She has strong beliefs and is a strong char acter. He has an open mind and can judge the situation with proper caution, making his hypothesises more accurate than of Danforth or Harthorn. 4. How does Reverend Hale initiate the hysteria that closes Act 2? He asks about the Poppet that Abby claims Liz has. He makes clear that Abigail has a fit and they later found that she had a pin inside her. Cheever spots the poppet in the house and is shocked to find a needle inside the poppet. Elizabeth states that the poppet is MWââ¬â¢s and yet they still take Elizabeth. Proctor is outraged and swears to bring the court down, closing the act in pain for Proctor as he had lost his wife to the court. 5. Describe the methods miller uses to achieve the climatic build-ups at the end of the act. Millers uses stage direction to show what each characterââ¬â¢s reactions are. Question/accusation and answer format creates tension. Continuous talking creates the build-ups. Angered responses make the atmosphere tense with anticipation of replies. E.g. ââ¬Å"Proctor stands there, gulping air.â⬠Metaphors and imagery in the stage directions clarify the scene.
